Biography Ivana Atanasovska
Dr. Ivana Atanasovska, M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, is a Scientific Advisor at the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU), Belgrade. She completed her undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Kragujevac, where she worked as a research assistant from 1995 to 1997. From December 1997 to 2005, she held various professional positions in the field of mechanical engineering, developing herself into a researcher who successfully combines research work with practical applications. In 2005, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the field of Information Technology. From 2006 to 2015, she worked as a Research Associate: until 2008 at the Institute for Testing of Materials (IMS) – Belgrade, from 2008 to 2014 at the “Kirilo Savić” Institute in Belgrade, and from September 2014 to May 2016 at the Innovation Center of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade. In December 2014, she was promoted to Senior Research Associate, and in August 2020, to Scientific Advisor. Since December 2019, Dr. Ivana Atanasovska has been the head of the permanent Seminar “Mechanics of Machines and Mechanisms – Models and Mathematical Methods” at the Mathematical Institute of SANU. Since 2021, she has been the Deputy Head of the Mechanics Sector, and since 2022, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mathematical Institute of SANU. Since 2019, she has been engaged as an evaluator for international EU projects, particularly the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). Since March 2019, she has held the position of Associate Editor at the journal Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science by SAGE, UK.
She has published over 150 peer-reviewed scientific papers, including one monograph and more than 30 papers in international journals. She is the author of three technical solutions and one registered patent. She has participated in numerous domestic and international projects and maintains very active international collaboration. She has also been involved in organizing a large number of international and domestic conferences. She is the initiator and chairperson of the series of conferences on Mathematical Modelling in Mechanics and Engineering at the Mathematical Institute of SANU (International Conference on Mathematical Modelling in Mechanics and Engineering – ICME). Through her mentorship, she has contributed to the completion of doctoral dissertations in Serbia, India, France, and Algeria. She is a member of the Serbian Society of Mechanics, UTAM (International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics), and the Society for Structural Integrity and Lifetime (DIVK). Since 2007, she has been a member of the commissions of the Institute for Standardization of the Republic of Serbia, currently serving as the Chair of the Commission for Machinery Safety and a member of the Commission for Technical Drawing and the Commission for Additive Manufacturing. In 2021, she was elected as a Corresponding Member of the Serbian Academy of Nonlinear Sciences (SANN).
